About
LYU Jiancheng was born in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, in 1965. He graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1988, holds a master’s degree in engineering, and is a Level 2 Researcher. He currently serves as Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He previously served as Deputy Director of the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Deputy Director of the Xi’an Branch and the Shaanxi Academy of Sciences; and Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has served as Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, since April 2021, and concurrently served as the Institute’s Party Committee Secretary from December 2024 to January 2026.
He is also Director of the Center for Optoelectronic Engineering at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His primary areas of work include precision mechanical structure design, optoelectronic product R&D, and scientific research management. He serves as the principal investigator for the “Marine Environmental Safety Assurance” sub-project under the Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as the principal investigator for the “Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Emergency Rescue” sub-project under the Guangdong Provincial Key Areas Research and Development Program. He has previously served as principal investigator on numerous national, provincial, and municipal projects and received the Second Prize of the Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2008 and the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2010. He was named an Outstanding Individual in the 2012 CAS-Local Government Cooperation Program, received the 2013 National Patent Excellence Award, the 2013 China Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Promotion Award (Individual), the 2014 State Council Special Government Allowance, and the 2018 Shenzhen Science and Technology Progress First Prize.
