LI Xiaosen is a distinguished expert in deep-sea science and energy. He has held several key leadership positions, including Academic Vice Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of the Key Laboratory of Natural Gas Hydrate of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Executive Director of the China Renewable Energy Society, Executive Director of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics.

Professor LI has achieved systematic and significant innovative results in the basic research, exploitation theory, and exploitation methods of natural gas hydrates. He has led more than 40 national and provincial major scientific research projects. He has published over 440 papers, among which more than 340 are SCI papers. He has been continuously included in the Elsevier China Highly Cited Researchers List for the past 12 years (2014-2025). He has obtained more than 90 invention patents. He has won the Second Prize of National Technology Invention Award, the First Prize of Guangdong Natural Science Award, the First Prize of Guangdong Technology Invention Award, the Second Prize of Guangdong Natural Science Award and other awards.
