Introduction
Geothermal energy hidden underground is a new energy source with enormous potential. According to the storage form of geothermal energy, it can be divided into shallow geothermal energy and medium deep geothermal energy. The total storage capacity of global geothermal energy is considerable and can fully meet all human energy needs. The scientific and rational development and utilization of geothermal energy is the main research goal of the local thermal energy research team. Our research team is the earliest national level scientific research institution in China to conduct research on geothermal energy utilization. Since its establishment, the team has won multiple national and provincial scientific awards. Our main research directions include geothermal energy utilization technology and geothermal energy evaluation technology. Geothermal energy utilization technology covers technologies such as geothermal power generation, geothermal cooling, geothermal heating, and geothermal drying. Geothermal energy evaluation technology covers the development of dynamic evaluation software for geothermal resources and the study of mathematical models for geothermal resource prediction. Our research team has successfully built China's first geothermal power station and China's first 5-level geothermal comprehensive cascade utilization project. We have also successfully developed China's first low-temperature geothermal refrigeration unit and modular ORC geothermal power generation unit. In terms of geothermal energy utilization technology, our research results have reached the leading level in China. At present, our team has 12 full-time researchers (including 4 professors and 5 associate professors) and 12 graduate students (9 master's and 3 doctoral students)

Signature Achievements
▪ Our team built the first geothermal power station in China in 1970.

International Collaboration
Supported by the special fund for global commonality challenges of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Our team and Delft University of technology in the Netherlands are jointly studing the coupling mechanism of deep geothermal aquifer storage/supply energy system.
