Introduction

The Laboratory of Biochemical Conversion for Biomass Energy is a specialized research unit focused on the biochemical conversion, development and utilization of biomass energy. In response to major national needs in economic and social development, the laboratory has undertaken dozens of key projects funded by national programs, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, local governments, and international collaborations, yielding a wealth of significant scientific and technological achievements. It has been honored with two First-Class Prizes of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and one Second-Class Prize of the National Energy Science and Technology Progress Award from the National Energy Administration.

Over the past five years, the laboratory has published over 280 research papers in leading journals across energy, biology, chemistry and related fields, been granted more than 100 invention patents, and contributed to the compilation of 18 monographs. It has established strong technical cooperation with well-known enterprises in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Hainan and other provinces, and has set up demonstration bases in multiple regions. On the international stage, the laboratory maintains extensive cooperation and academic exchanges with universities and research institutes in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, South Korea, Germany, Australia, the United States and beyond.

The laboratory currently comprises a multidisciplinary, energetic, and motivated research team, including 7 professors, 1 professor-level engineer, 8 associate professors, 4 senior engineers, 2 assistant professors, and 7 special research assistants / postdoctoral fellows.
