WANG Kunlin / Professor

Position:Deputy Director of the Offshore Energy Center

About

Wang Kunlin is Mainly engaged in research on offshore energy equipment and its integrated development, island independent energy systems, hydraulic power generation systems, and offshore engineering fishery green farming equipment. He led the development of China’s first 1 MW wave energy device, the “Nankun” which uses inverter-based DC voltage multi-unit micro-grid stable power supply technology and was successfully integrated into island micro-grids and operated stably, with a 24-hour peak generation exceeding 10,000 kWh. He also led the development of China’s first semi-submersible wave energy aquaculture platform, the “Penghu” , along with the truss-based farm platform “Ge Sheng No. 1”, and the first box-truss composite farming platform “Xin Huan No.1”, which have continually innovated and upgraded, forming a series with a strong demonstration effect. He has led the power systems development of multiple large-scale wave energy devices, as well as the design and development of island independent power systems, achieving breakthroughs in the grid connection of wave energy devices to island micro-grids. Dr. Wang has published more than 60 papers, applied for over 50 invention patents, with more than 20 granted, including 10 international invention patents. He has won a CAS Science and Technology Progress Award (2nd/10), a Guangdong Province First Prize for Technology Invention (3rd/10), and a Guangdong Patent Silver Award (2nd/6), etc.
