About
Professor XU Xueqing is a researcher specializing in optoelectronic materials and devices. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Solar Energy Materials Laboratory at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), CAS. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from South China University of Technology and her Ph.D. from Sun Yat-sen University. Her research focuses on next-generation photovoltaic technologies, particularly perovskite solar cells, and the development of quantum dot materials for applications in photodetectors, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and functional thin films for solar energy utilization.
Prof. Xu has established herself as a leading figure in her field through extensive international collaboration. She has conducted research visits at prestigious institutions including the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Materials Research (Germany), Universitat Jaume I (Spain), and City University of Hong Kong. Her work has yielded significant advancements in interface defect passivation, carrier transport, and charge recombination dynamics in perovskite solar cells, achieving cell efficiencies at internationally competitive levels. As a Principal Investigator, she has led over 20 major national and provincial research projects, including grants from China's National "863" Program and the National Natural Science Foundation. Her scholarly output is prolific, with more than 150 high-quality publications in leading journals such as Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Energy Materials, and ACS Nano. Her work has been cited over 3,150 times, and she holds 15 authorized national invention patents alongside one U.S. patent. In addition to her research, Prof. Xu is an active contributor to the scientific community. She holds several key positions, including membership in the CSTM Electronic Material Standards Committee, Directorship of the Guangdong Materials Research Society. She also serves as a project evaluation expert for China's Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation. Committed to education, she has supervised numerous doctoral and master's students, many of whom have embarked on successful careers in academia and industry. Through her pioneering research, leadership, and mentorship, Prof. Xueqing Xu continues to be a driving force in advancing sustainable energy technologies.
