About
Dr. QIU Changyu is an Associate Researcher in the Built Environment and Energy Conservation Research Group at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his PhD in Building Services Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020. Prior to that, he obtained an MSc in Intelligent Building Technology and Management from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Built Environment and Equipment Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
His research focuses on the development of advanced renewable energy applications in buildings and energy-efficient building technologies.
He has contributed to key technologies for zero-carbon building envelopes by developing a novel, energy-efficient building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) window with broad application potential. He also established mathematical and data-driven models to study the heat transfer mechanisms and energy performance of complex building envelopes. His current research interests include the integration of photovoltaic systems into building envelopes, the thermal and daylighting performance of advanced fenestration systems, and building energy modelling and optimization to support the design of high-performance sustainable buildings.
Dr. Qiu has received research funding as the principal investigator from the Youth Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and has undertaken research tasks under Guangzhou Science and Technology Project.
