Career Opportunities of GIEC for High-level Talents

Since its founding in 1978, the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has been dedicated to the research, development and utilization of new energy and renewable energy. Its main specialism is in clean energy engineering, with a view to develop energy saving and sustainable technologies, supporting national strategies. 

Till now, GIEC has 327 technical and research staffs, including a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one expert selected for the National ‘Ten Thousand Talents Program’, two chief scientists for the National Program on Key Basic Research Project, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and nine experts selected for the CAS ‘Hundred Talents Program’. This brilliant line-up has got many remarkable achievement.

As an active international collaborator, GIEC has established academic exchange or cooperative programmes with renowned universities, institutions and companies in more than 20 nations. GIEC enjoys several well-equipped research platforms, including a state International R&D Center of Renewable Energy, the National Energy Research Center for Biofuels, CAS’s Guangzhou Center for Gas Hydrate Research, Key Laboratory of Renewable Energy, the Guangdong Key Laboratory of New and Renewable Energy and a Sino-Swiss low-carbon urban development cooperation center. The two-campus institute has two experimental bases and is equipped with more than 100 million RMB worth of research instruments.

Outstanding personalities

(1) The applicant should hold full professorship or an equivalent title in a prestigious foreign higher education or research institution.
(2) The applicant should have a deep academic attainments in the research field
and has extensive international academic influence, which are
widely recognized by international peers.
(3)
T
he applicant is expected to work full time and should be 55 years of age or under, in principle.The part-time applicant’s working hours are not less than 2 month per year during employment period, the age of part-time applicant is unrestricted.

 

Leading academic

(1) The applicant should hold associate professorship or an equivalent title in a prestigious foreign higher education or research institution.

(2) The applicant should have the experience of planning and hosting major scientific research projects, the major scientific research achievements have been recognized by international peers.
(3) The applicant is expected to work full time and should be 50 years of age or under, in principle. The exceptional case is not exceeding 55 years old. The part-time applicant’s working hours are not less than 6 month per year during employment period, the age of part-time applicant is unrestricted.

 

Young top-notch talent

(1) The applicant should have independently undertake or participate in the experience of scientific research projects, and have excellent technical innovation potential and better teamwork ability.

(2) The applicant has come to the fore in the research field and has made research achievements with outstanding innovative ideas.

(3)The age of applicant is required to below 40. Full time introduction.

 

Early-career scientist

(1)The applicant should have a good discipline background, independently undertake or participate in the experience of scientific research projects, publish excessively high level academic papers in related disciplines, or acquire innovative technical achievements, and have excellent technical innovation potential and better teamwork ability.

(2) The age of postdoctors are not exceeding 35 years old. The age of doctoral graduates are not exceeding 30 years old. Full time introduction.

Starting salary: Negotiable

Research start-up fee: Negotiable

Settling-in allowance: Negotiable

Set up a team with outstanding personalities as the core, hiring research assistants and providing scientific research and office room. Properly arrange the work of spouse. If the work of spouses can not be solved in actually situation and spouse is temporarily no work, the Institute provides one-time subsistence allowance, the amount is negotiable. Actively assist their children to enter school. 

 

Leading academic

Starting salary: Full-time staff, ¥400,000.00. Part-time staff, the salary is negotiable.

Research start-up fee: ¥1,000,000.00 - ¥3,000,000.00

Settling-in allowance: ¥300,000.00- ¥500,000.00. Provides a set of transitional housing, rent free for three years. For part-time staff, provides a set of temporary housing

Set up a team with leading academic as the core, hiring research assistants and providing scientific research and office room. For full time staff, properly arrange the work of their spouse. Settling-in allowance: ¥100,000.00- ¥300,000.00. Provides a set of transitional housing, rent free for three years.

The staff employed as an associate professor and above positions will be provided scientific research and office room. Properly arrange the work of their spouse. If the work of spouses can not be solved in actually situation and spouse is temporarily no work, the Institute provides one-time subsistence allowance. 

 

Early-career scientist

Starting salary: According to the post in the Institute and the Salary Management Measures

Settling-in allowance: ¥50,000.00- ¥100,000.00.

The staff employed as an associate researcher or equivalent title could apply for the key training and support in the Institute within two years.
