-The first national solar energy research center in China

The predecessor “Solar Energy Laboratory” was established in 1978 and she was the first national solar energy research center in China. The lab puts emphasis on the material researches for the application of direct and indirect solar energy utilization, like the materials for solar energy thermal conversion, photovoltaic devices, solar control of energy-efficient building ,semiconductor thermoelectric conversion materials, photocatalysis, nano-porous thermal insulting materials and so on. The laboratory occupies an area of about 600㎡in the New Energy Building in GIEC and has a lot of experimental apparatus, such as a magnetron sputtering system, UV-VIS Spectrometer, FTIR Spectrometer, and home-made dip-coater, etc.  

From 2005 to 2010,our lab has 31 applied patents,10 authorized patents,2 applying international patents;221 research papers and 152 papers collected by SCI or EI。The laboratory has accomplished more than 20 national important projects, including “The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program)”, and “Science and Technology Program of Guangdong Province”, etc in the past 5 years. We have already obtained a series of achievements and nation patents in solar energy efficient window coatings, photovoltaic technology and application，semiconductor thermoelectric conversion materials, photocatalysis，nano-porous thermal insulting materials and so on, and we can go further and do better based on these achievements. Up to now, we have established long-term friendly international cooperation with many countries such as Japan and Australia.
