Hydrogen Production and Utilization Laboratory

2011-01-18
Hydrogen Production and Utilization Laboratory focuses on research and development, application and demonstration of hydrogen generation and fuel cell systems. Hydrogen can be produced from biomass, photolysis of water, and water by electrolysis using electricity from renewable energy sources and generate electricity again with near zero-emission. Hyrogen is an important energy carrier, which may store large amounts of energy for long periods of time in a chemical to stabilize the grid frequency, to supply energy for isolated islands, to distribute energy, to supply fuel for fuel cell.

Research fields:
(1) Catalytic steam reforming of biomass and its derivatives
 Catalyst preparation and catalytic mechanism
 CO2 capture by chemical looping reaction
(2) PEM electrolysis of water and PEMFC
(3) Photolysis of water and photocatalytic reduction of CO2
(4) Microchannel for hydrogen production
 Heat transfer and combustion in the microchannel reactor
 Catalyst carrier and loading methods
