A seminar was held in conference room 907, Guangzhou institute of conversion, Chinese academe of science, on Apr. 30. Dr. Xu Gang and Dr. Miao Lei, from Solar Energy material Laboratory gave a wonderful presentation, respectively. Researchers` graduate students from Key laboratory and part members from other laboratories attended the seminar.

Dr. Xu has years of research experience on VO₂ thermalchromic classes. The topic of his presentation is “the research and development of thermochromic smart glass”, in which, he introduced energy-saving and light-adjusting principles of various smart classes and their practical applications in many areas. Additionally, in comparison with the research and development progress of VO2 thermal classes both internationally and nationally, he made predictive introduction for Solar Energy Laboratory in the research of VO2 thermal classes in the future. In the meantime, its market prospect was forecasted.

Dr. Miao has been doing research in Nanomaterials for many years. The topic of her presentation is “energy-conversion nanamaterials”. In her presentation, she firstly introduced the research background and significance of energy-conversion nanaomaterials; then analyzed the applications of thermoelectric materials and the existing technical problems by giving a few practical examples. In addition, she also introduced the research and development trends of novel nano-thermoelectric material and the present research achievement from her research group. Furthermore, she introduced another two new energy-conversion materials and solar cell materials with its working principle` efficiency` production and popularization.
