Second international symposium on low-carbon and renewable energy technology was held from Nov.15 to 18 in Cheju Island, Koreas. Pro. Yuan Zhenhong, along with Zhuang Xinshu and Kong Xiaoying, attended the conference. Around 200 experts from all over the world shared their views in terms of biomass energy, wind energy, solar energy and geothermal.

In the biomass session, with giving a presentation titled “research progress on biomass resources and bio-fuel in China”, Yuan Zhenhong introduced the development of biomass conversion technology in China and the progress and prospect of biomass liquid fuel conversion technologies. Zhuang Xinshu also gave a presentation of “hydrolysis of biomass with high-temperature liquid water”, in which she talked about cellulosic ethanol research of GIEC, especially the latest development of high-temperature liquid water in pretreatment of various types of biomass. Kong Xiaoying presented her work on microbial fuel cell in poster session.
