Carl-Heinz Leichner, a key account manager and prokurist of HYDAC technology corporation, took a visit Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC) with 3 assistants accompanied from its Shanghai division on September 14th, 2011.

Mr. Leichner firstly introduced various products of HYDAC and their applications, and specially presented the application of hydraulic accumulators to wave energy converters for Pelamis and Archimedes Wave Swing. Then Professor Yage You of GIEC addressed the development of wave energy technology in this institute with a topic “Wave energy technology in China”. Both sides further discussed the design and production of hydraulic accumulator applied to wave energy converter intensively. Oil leakage from commutating valve in the design of wave energy device and shifting design of energy converter system in wind energy device are also discussed.

The visit of HYDAC brings GIEC a good chance to solve problems of hydraulic accumulator design in wave energy device and improvement design of wind energy. If both sides can be successfully cooperated, the technology reliability of wave or wind energy converter would be strengthened.
