The 2nd Annual MarineTech Summit-2011 (MTS-2011) was held from September 23 to25, 2011, at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) of South Korea, attracted attendees from more than 20 countries and areas.

MTS-2011 is an event for professionals involved in maritime science and technology with the theme of “New Maritime Dimension in Low Carbon Era”. The event aims to offer a multidisciplinary platform to discuss the latest advances in research and the current industry standards.

MTS-2011 consisted of keynote forum, topic speech, session, poster and summary speech. Five professionals from UK, Germany,,South Korea, Japan and China were invited to give keynote speeches.

As one of the keynote speakers, Professor Li Xiaosen, from Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC) made an excellent presentation with topic of Research and Development Status of Natural Gas Hydrate (NGH) as an Energy Resource. He thoroughly introduced the current research and development situation of the natural gas hydrate (NGH) around the world, the future prospects, and the NGH research progress in GIEC, which attracted great interests of the participants.

By attending the summit, GIEC researchers got wonderful opportunity to explore the different research, business and investment activities occurring throughout the global marine technology community, which are significant for promoting GIEC’s development in NGH and other related marine programs.

Dr. Zhaoyang Chen and Dr. Gang Li from the Natural Gas Hydrate Research Center in GIEC also present in this summit.
