On May 9th, a delegation of 10 people from Italy visited Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS (GIEC). The delegation was composed of government officials, research experts, and corporate representatives from Apulia Region and Emilia-Romagna of Italy.

First of all, Prof. Wu Nengyou, vice president of GIEC, extended warmly welcome to the delegation on behalf of the whole institute. He hoped that, based on the sound cooperation experience between the two sides previously, the meeting would further push forward our partnership. Afterwards, Dr. Zhou Zhouyu, chief of the science department of GIEC, introduced the overall situation and the main research fields of GIEC, while associate Prof. Gong Yulie and Prof. Yan Changfeng respectively introduced GIEC’s research accomplishments in the field of geothermal energy and energy efficiency. Mr. Giuseppe Creanza, the Italian-Chinese project manager in Apulia Region also briefly introduced the research accomplishments and experiences owned by colleges, research institutes and enterprises in Apulia and Emilia-Romagna in renewable energy, new energy and water pollution treatment,etc. He pointed out that there’s great potential for our two sides to carry out cooperation in biomass energy, solar energy, wind energy, eco-building and energy efficiency. With the aim of better clarifying the directions for cooperation, the two sides both agreed to lay down a list of cooperation intentions after the meeting, then exchange it and further discuss detailed cooperation points.
