Delegation from Embassy of France in China Visits GIEC

On May 28th, Dr. Philippe MARTINEAU, assistant counselor of the Science Division of France Embassy in China, accompanied by Prof. David GASSIR, science consul of Consulate General of France in Guangzhou visited Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Li Haibin extended warmly welcome to the guests and gave a brief introduction about GIEC’s institutional structure, research plan and fields. Afterwards, he elaborated on the accomplishments achieved by GIEC in research areas such as biomass energy, solar energy and wave energy, etc, introduced several “firsts” yielded domestically in renewable energy research, all of which won high appreciation from the guests. Dr. Philippe MARTINEAU said that our cooperation promises a bright future against the background that new energy having been pointed by Sino-French Science and Technology Commission as one of the six priority subjects for financial support. In particular, there lies great potential for us to collaborate in fuel cells, waste treatment technology, and solar energy utilization, etc. Moreover, Dr. Philippe MARTINEAU briefly introduced the various research grant programs supported by France. He also said that French Embassy and Consulates in China would serve well as a bridge between research institutions on the two sides and thus expand larger space for cooperation.
