“South-South Cooperation on Climate Change International Forum” Delegation visits GIEC

On Nov. 11th, a 30-people delegation of the “South-South Cooperation on Climate Change International Forum” co-organized by Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Commerce, UNDP, UNEP, UNESCO, and UNIDO visited Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS. Among delegation members, there were high-class officials and technical personnel specializing in climate change and emission reduction from over 10 different developing countries like Cote d’lvoire, Vietnam, Sultan, and Zambia, etc, as well as several representatives from relative international organizations.

In the meeting, Prof. Li Haibin, GIEC’s director assistant, extended warmly welcome to the delegation, and gave an overall introduction of GIEC’s condition and achievements. Afterwards, Dr. Cai Guotian from GIEC’s energy strategy research center introduced the efforts exerted in the fields of countering climate change, low-carbon development, and energy planning strategy and policy. The delegation members showed intense interest in the work and accomplishments that GIEC made in solar energy, ocean energy, biomass energy, carbon trading, energy conservation and emission reduction. It is sincerely hoped that deeper exchanges and cooperation could be carried out between two sides.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the solar energy lab, ocean energy lab and the science exhibition room.
