University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan and University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Pakistan (UET) both signed a Memorandum with Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences (GIEC) on August 29 in Lahore to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange of scientists, young scholars and technicians between two sides.
According to MOU, both sides agree to collaborate in various research areas of bilateral interests in the field of energy, especially in bio-fuel, generating power from municipal solid waste, solar energy, and geothermal energy. Moreover, both sides will share their expertise by encouraging exchange of scientific personnel, including senior scientists and technical staffs, post doctoral training and exchange of Ph. D students.
This visit was at the invitation of Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab Pakistan, as he led a delegation to visit GIEC in July this year and felt greatly interested in GIEC’s biomass research. Thus, GIEC’s President Prof. WU Chuangzhi led a biomass expert team to pay an official visit to Punjab government and relative universities and companies. Punjab government attached great importance to this visit with strong wish for mutual cooperation in future.
During the three-day visit, Prof. WU Chuangzhi and his team elaborately introduced new energy and renewable energy researches done in GIEC and also in China as a whole, focusing on biomass energy, waste treatment and geothermal energy. Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif highly praised the efforts exerted and the accomplishments achieved by GIEC experts, expressing strong wish to strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation. Therefore, on August 29th, GIEC signed MOU with University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan, and University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Pakistan (UET).
