Academician ZHANG Yaping Visits GIEC
On March 13, 2014, academician ZHANG Yaping, who is also vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences visited Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS (GIEC).
Prof. WU Chuangzhi, director general of GIEC elaborately reported our institute’s development layout, as well as progresses in scientific research, international cooperation, and fundamental construction.
Academician Zhang fully acknowledged achievements yielded by GIEC in scientific research and fundamental construction. He hopes that by concentrating on the core competitive areas and relying on the talent policies regionally and nationally, GIEC would be able to draw in more talents, strengthen technology commercialization and internationalization, thus striving for building itself into a strong driving force behind influential high-tech industry.
After the meeting, Academician Zhang also visited the biomass lab, ocean energy lab, analysis and test center, natural gas hydrate center. Professors in GIEC respectively introduced research progresses and outcomes in the fields of bio-gasoline and jet fuel production from biomass by aqueous phase catalytic processing, biogas anaerobic fermentation system, eagle type wave energy power generation facility, natural gas hydrate three-dimensional simulation mining equipment.
