On November 21, Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC) convened the 7th session of the Youth Symposium and Project Progress Exchange Meeting of Key Laboratory Fund. The symposium was organized by CAS Key Laboratory of Renewable Energy and CAS Key Laboratory of Gas Hydrate.

Prof. Longlong MA, Secretary General of the party committee of GIEC, made a speech before the symposium. He encouraged the young scientists to have lofty ideal and wide research scope, and hoped all the young scientists work hard together for GIEC’s construction and development.

21 project directors of Key Laboratory Fund were invited to report the project progress, and 23 young scientists and students were invited to report their research progress. The symposium was carried out in two meeting rooms. One involved fields of biomass catalysis, thermal-chemical conversion, and biochemical biomass conversion; the other involved energy materials, solar energy, geothermal energy, ocean energy and gas hydrate. More than 100 scientists including staffs and students attended the meetings selectively according to their interests.

The Youth Symposium, combines the Key Laboratory Meeting, played positive role in promoting the Key Laboratory’s work and strengthened the management of the Key Laboratory fund projects. At the same time, the symposium provided a platform for young scientists and students to share their research achievements and experiences, and also promoted the communication among different research fields in GIEC.
