VITO Representatives Visit Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion

On February 24th, Dr. Debin Mao, the Chief Representative of the Belgian Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) in China, and Dr. Dietrich Van der Weken, General Manager at the Global Sustainable Technology & Innovation Community (G-STIC), visited the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC). The visit aimed to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between the two sides in the field of sustainable technology and innovation. Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department Xia Jianjun, Officer of International Cooperation Lyu Yiran, and Director of the Energy Strategy and Carbon Assets Research Center Cai Guotian participated in the exchange.

During the meeting, both parties had in-depth discussions on the theme and agenda for the 8th G-STIC Conference to be held in 2025. Since the 3rd conference in 2019, GIEC has engaged as co-host and will continue to co-host the energy session this year. VITO expressed anticipation to strengthen collaboration with the GIEC in the future organization of G-STIC and jointly promote technological innovation for global sustainable development. Academic exchanges were also conducted, further solidifying the foundation for future cooperation.

VITO is a leading independent research and technology organization in the field of clean technology and sustainable development in Europe and has a long-standing collaboration with GIEC. The G-STIC Conference is hosted by VITO along with 10 international partners, including GIEC, with the goal of promoting innovations and applications of technology to foster sustainable development. The conference received strong support from the United Nations and the European Union.
