Delegation from University of Groningen and Dutch Consulate Visits Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion
On the afternoon of July 11, 2024, Dr. Mark Kas, Head of Research Strategy and Partnerships at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Groningen, along with Mr. Fons Klein Tuente, Senior Science Officer, and Ms. Karin Han, Senior Business Officer from the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Guangzhou, visited the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences (GIEC).
The delegation was received by Prof. Lyu Jiancheng, Director General of GIEC, along with Ms. Yu Yinglin, Director of Human Resources and Education Department, Mr. Xia Jianjun, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Department, Ms. Lyu Yiran, Foreign Affairs Officer, and key researchers from the Biomass Valorization Research Center, Emerging Solid Waste Recycling Research Center, and Energy Strategy & Carbon Assets Research Center.
During the meeting, Director General Lyu Jian Cheng welcomed the delegation and recalled his previous visit to the University of Groningen, emphasizing this return visit as a valuable opportunity to deepen collaboration. Dr. Kas presented the university's academic and research strengths, particularly highlighting innovations in biomass conversion. Both sides expressed strong willingness to enhance scientific cooperation and academic exchanges. Mr. Klein Tuente affirmed the Consulate's support for bilateral research collaboration.
In the academic exchange, Professor Wang Chenguang, Professor Wu Benteng, and Professor Liao Cuiping delivered presentations on their respective research focuses and recent progress. Ms. Yu and Ms. Lyu then discussed potential cooperation in joint research and talent cultivation.
The delegation toured GIEC's exhibition hall and biomass thermochemical conversion laboratory, gaining firsthand understanding of the institute's research facilities and achievements.
