Professor Chien Ming Wang from the University of Queensland visits GIEC
On September 23, 2025, Professor Chien Ming Wang—Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore, Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Chair Professor at the University of Queensland—visited GIEC at the invitation of the Offshore Energy Research Center and delivered an academic lecture entitled HEXAGON: Ultra-Large Offshore Fish Farm and Renewable Energy Island. He was warmly received by over ten researchers, including Prof. Yu Bai, Director of the Department of Science and Technology at GIEC, and Prof. Kunlin Wang, Deputy Director of the Offshore Energy Research Center.
Professor Chien Ming Wang systematically elaborated on the environmental challenges and design difficulties encountered in the development of new marine equipment. He also proposed innovative solutions and presented the latest research achievements of his team. Afterwards, BAI Yu introduced GIEC‘s development overview, ongoing international collaborations, and future plans.
During the interactive session, both sides engaged in-depth discussions on key areas of cooperation, including technical challenges in marine equipment development, potential solutions, and collaborative models. The lecture not only promoted academic exchange but also provided valuable insights for GIEC‘s research in marine equipment. Moving forward, the Center will actively pursue extensive cooperation with internationally renowned institutions such as the University of Queensland, focusing on collaborative innovation in frontier areas like offshore renewable energy, and continuously enhancing its research influence and international partnerships.
