Project entitled “developing strategy research on natural gas hydrate exploration and exploitation technology” passed inspection and acceptance on July 23 and was named outstanding project as well. The project was untaken by Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion and Guangzhou Center for Gas Hydrate Research, CAS.

Professor Wu Nengyou, in charge of the project, reported the progress and achievement of the project. A research report was submitted to the panel of experts. In the project, international NGH exploration and exploitation progress and developing trend was collected and analyzed, in the meantime, the foundations and problems existed in NGH development in China was summarized; accordingly, demand of our economic society, energy development and environment to the NGH exploration and exploitation was analyzed; strategy research of technology development was carried out.

The project outcome includes proposing two specific and seven major theoretical issues, five aspects of the key technology and equipment, proposals and related supporting measures for the three stages of NGH exploration and exploitation in the next 20-30 years.
