China, US jointly released the achievements on large-scale renewable energy power generation consulting project in the news conference held on Nov. 8th in Bejing. Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), as the secretariat of project, organized the conference. 

The project was initiated at the end of 1990s with the corporation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Chinese Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Science and American Academy of Engineering. It aims to carry out consulting research in the field of energy and environment management.

The achievement released on the conference was marked by the accomplishment of the consulting report of the project, which cost more than two-year concerted work of over 50 academicians and experts from both sides.

The report analyzed and summarized characteristics of renewable energy resources in two countries, technical development capacity, related policies, and market size and so on. Meanwhile, the report fully discussed  the necessity and significance of economic restructuring in the future and the cooperative mode and experience exchanges of two countries in this field.

The report consists seven parts: resources foundation, current situation of power generation, technology promotion, encouragement policy, and challenge for large-scale power generation, environment protection and expectations. It is going to be published in Chinese and English, respectively.

GIEC is responsible for the coordination and organization of the project, which plays an important role in providing a platform of communication and exchange for experts from both countries.
