GIEC, Siemens ltd. China, releases research results on Urban Sustainable Development Programme
China and Siemens ltd. China jointly released research results on “Guangzhou Urban Sustainable Development Programme” recently.
The report analyzed Guangzhou’s energy consumption tendency in various fields, and gave suggestions on how to dig out maximally energy saving potential in the future.
From the research results, it was suggested that Guangzhou’s energy demands is going to keep a rapid growth within ten years. Energy saving potential in infrastructure, especially in construction and transplantation, is enormous.
Based on the discussion with local scientific experts and government officials, the report proposed 17 high-efficiency energy saving measures which is suitable for Guangzhou’s development, and can be very useful in planning and optimizing urban energy saving plans and innovation programmes, such as the reconstructions of old towns, warehouses, and villages.
Meanwhile, with offering some international cases as reference, the report demonstrated some factors that government should take into account in formulating policies to promote urban sustainable development.
