GIEC Attends the 30th International Conference on Thermal Treatment Technologies and Hazardous Waste Combustors

2011-05-20

The 30th International Conference on Thermal Treatment Technologies and Hazardous Waste Combustors was convened in Jacksonville, Florida from May 10th to 13th, 2011. More than 180 scholars and experts in the fields of air pollutants control, solid waste treatment and renewable energy attended the conference. They came from over a dozen different countries and regions. Haibin Li (Assistant Director of GIEC) and Fang He (an associate researcher in GIEC) were invited to participate in the conference.

The conference contained 10 sessions, including biomass, R&D, waste energy utilization, replaced combustion technology, and the challenges as well as opportunities facing the world, etc. Fang He was invited to deliver a speech in the R&D session on the topic of Synthesis Gas Generation by Chemical Looping Gasification of Biomass with Natural Hematite as an Oxygen Carrier, introducing advances in gasification technology of chemical chain which converts biomass into synthesis gas using natural iron ore as the oxygen carrier. Professor Haibin Li, invited as a special guest to the conference, conducted in-depth discussion with other scholars and experts on issues as biomass energy conversion utilization, solid waste treatment technology and other fields they were interested in.
