Professor Yuan Zhenhong of GIEC won the 2014 Linneborn Prize

On the morning of 23 June, Yuan Zhenhong,the professor of GuangZhou Institute of Energy Conversion(GIEC), Chinese Academic Science(CAS), was awarded the 2014 Linneborn Prize in the 22nd Europe Biomass Energy Conference(EUBC&E 2014) ,which was held in Hamburg,Germany.

As the panel chair of EUBC&E 2014, Wim P.M. van Swaaij from University of Twente in the Netherlands, hosted the award ceremony, and introduced the main achievements and research contributions of Pro.Yuan Zhenhong. On the behalf of Organizing Committee, Giuliano Grassi, the chairman of European Biomass Industry Association picked up the award for Pro.Yuan Zhenhong. The former winner Kai Sipilä, the vice president of Strategic Energy Research of Technical Research Centre of Finland and the Pro. Ralph P. Overend of National Renewable Energy Laboratory, United States also attended the award ceremony.

The committee deemed that Pro.Yuan Zhenhong is one of the main pioneers and the active promoters of modern Chinese biomass energy, and has contributed enormously to the development of biomass energy technology and science.

As the first Chinese scientist awarded the Linneborn Prize, Pro.Yuan Zhenhong thanked the committee for the honor, and expressed that this honor was not only for himself but also a great achievement for all the Chinese researchers studied biomass energy.

Linneborn Prize was founded in 1994, only one quota once a year, used in commending the person which made outstanding contributions to promoting the development of biomass energy.
