GIEC Successfully Organized the 2018 “Sino-German Workshop on Sustainable Energy Transition”

The “2018 Sino-German Workshop on Sustainable Energy Transition” was successfully held by Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, CAS (GIEC) on November 1st, 2018 in Guangzhou. More than 30 experts and scholars attended the workshop.  

Seven keynote speeches were delivered in the workshop. Dr. Stefan Stückrad (IASS) and Dr. Heiko Thomas (IASS) introduced the detailed implementation of Kopernikus projects for the energy transition. Dr. MU Zhilin, working at the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee, China, shared his thoughts in Legislation on Energy Transition in China, in which he stated that “to strengthen rule by Law is imperative in energy transition”. YU Wenyi, director of Guangdong Technical and Economic Research Center, gave the fact that Guangdong pioneers in the economy development, and it's relatively highly urbanized and industrialized. Prof. Dr. CAI Guotian from GIEC introduced the situation and problems of energy transition in Guangzhou. And Dr. Wang Peng from GIEC presented the distributed energy micro-grid pilot project in Guangzhou and analyzed problems encountered. Prof. Dr. Xue Bing (IAE) analyzed the potential and key points of energy cooperation between China and Germany. After the report, Chinese and German experts had in-depth discussions on the urgent problems of energy transition.  

The 2018 “Sino-German Workshop on Sustainable Energy Transition” have great significance for sharing the experience in energy transition and promoting energy cooperation between China and Germany.
